Jiangsu is a major province in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), boasting a strong industrial foundation and abundant technological resources, consistently ranking among the top in China. Director Huang Ying introduced the trade scale, key players, and infrastructure development of Jiangsu’s TCM industry. Jiangsu leads the nation in TCM services, herbal medicine, and pharmaceutical preparations, and was selected as one of the first National TCM Bases. The province has established partnerships with several leading TCM enterprises and achieved significant progress in phased development and cultivation.
With a well-established communication and exchange mechanism with overseas TCM institutions, Director Huang Ying highlighted Jiangsu’s latest developments in the TCM industry. He stated:
“We have trade networks and economic and trade representative offices in 19 countries worldwide. In short, whatever resources the department has, we will provide them to you, ensuring that you receive as much support as possible.”
Sun Jianwei: Exploring New Investment Opportunities in Traditional Chinese Medicine
The Malaysia Jiangsu Entrepreneurs Business Association is a non-profit organization officially registered with the Malaysian Registrar of Societies. It actively supports enterprises in expanding overseas and serves as a bridge connecting economic and trade exchanges between Jiangsu and Malaysia.
Sun Jianwei, President of the Malaysia Jiangsu Entrepreneurs Business Association, emphasized that in recent years, in addition to the widely discussed digital economy, the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) industry has begun to gain international traction. He highlighted that TCM is a treasure of Chinese culture and that the Association has a responsibility to promote it.
“In Malaysia, we will leverage the Jiangsu Entrepreneurs Business Association as a platform to actively take on the responsibility of promoting the development of Malaysia’s TCM industry. With our strong community ties and enthusiasm, we are committed to making a difference,” Sun Jianwei stated. He also stressed the importance of fostering exchanges between Jiangsu’s TCM experts and international professionals, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
During the conference, attendees shared insights on the latest developments and valuable experiences in the internationalization of TCM. Discussions covered Jiangsu’s unique TCM therapies and their integration with Western medicine, which contribute to the province’s global expansion efforts and its role in the Belt and Road Initiative. Other key topics included international collaborations in TCM education with leading universities, new approaches to overcoming export challenges, breaking entry barriers in foreign markets, and long-term partnerships with overseas stakeholders to establish localized operations.
Dr. Yap Yau Pin, Executive Director of Sinomy TCM, shared his personal journey, noting that he pursued his studies in TCM at Tunku Abdul Rahman University and furthered his education at leading universities in China. “The development of Malaysia’s TCM sector has evolved from traditional apprenticeships to formal education programs, gradually forming a modern TCM system alongside regulatory frameworks. This has made TCM more accessible to the public. Sinomy TCM aims to provide high-quality consultation services by renowned practitioners, elevate Malaysia’s TCM standards, and collaborate closely with China to adopt advanced technologies, ultimately steering Malaysia’s general TCM practice towards specialization,” he explained.
Malaysia is now at the forefront of global TCM development. With proactive market expansion and innovation, it is expected that more communities will embrace TCM in the near future.
