On April 27th, Ms. Gong Weifang, Vice Mayor of Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, and her 13-member business delegation visited Kuala Lumpur for in-depth discussions on bilateral economic and trade investment with the Malaysia Jiangsu Entrepreneurs Business Association.

At the start of the dinner, Ye Langheng, Vice President of the Malaysia Jiangsu Entrepreneurs Business Association, served as the host and introduced the distinguished guests present, extending a warm welcome to them. Following this, Sun Jianwei, Executive President of the Malaysia Jiangsu Entrepreneurs Business Association, delivered a speech, stating that the purpose of the association is twofold: to foster connections between Jiangsu enterprises investing in Malaysia and to vigorously promote investment and business opportunities between Malaysia and Jiangsu. Malaysia is a crucial strategic region for Chinese enterprises developing overseas markets and domestic investment. In terms of economic development, cultural customs, political policies, and China-Malaysia friendship and cooperation, Malaysia is a leading country in Southeast Asia. Earlier this month, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar and his delegation visited China, meeting with President Xi and other Chinese leaders, and signed a 170 billion RMB investment memorandum, further demonstrating the leaders’ expectations for deepened cooperation and mutual benefit between the two countries.

In the third segment of the event, Vice Mayor of Xuzhou, Gong Weifang delivered a speech. She began by introducing Xuzhou’s development and economic status to the business representatives present. As an important city among Jiangsu Province’s “Thirteen Taibao,” Xuzhou’s GDP reached 845.8 billion yuan in 2022. The city has been continuously improving its investment policies and government services. She further stated that Xuzhou, leveraging its existing industrial base advantages, is focused on building three advantageous innovation industrial clusters: engineering machinery, green low-carbon energy, and new materials. Additionally, Xuzhou aims to accelerate the cultivation of four emerging innovation industrial clusters: digital economy, integrated circuits and ICT, pharmaceutical health, and safety and emergency. The city also plans to upgrade three characteristic innovation industrial clusters: high-quality steel, high-end textiles, and food and agricultural products processing. She expressed her hope that more high-quality overseas enterprises would settle in Xuzhou for mutual development.
After the speeches by both representatives, Executive President Sun Jianwei and Vice Mayor Gong Weifang participated in a souvenir exchange ceremony.
