Sun Jianwei, President of the Malaysian Jiangsu Entrepreneurs Business Association, Attends the Second “2024 Belt and Road” Intersection of Chinese Business and Trade Exchange Event

On November 10th, 2024, the Second “Belt and Road” Intersection of Chinese Business and Trade Exchange Event was held in Yangzhou. The event was guided by the China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and jointly organized by the China Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs Association, Jiangsu Provincial Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, Jiangsu Provincial Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Communist Party of Yangzhou Municipal Committee, and the Yangzhou Municipal People’s Government.

Cheng Hong, Vice Chairman of China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Hu Guangjie, Standing Committee Member of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and Minister of the United Front Work Department, attended and delivered speeches. Xu Kaixin, Deputy Minister of the United Front Work Department of Jiangsu Province and Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, also participated. Liu Biao, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Chairman of the Jiangsu Provincial Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, hosted the opening ceremony. Wang Jinjian, Secretary of the Yangzhou Municipal Party Committee, gave a speech.

Cheng Hong emphasized that the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is a major proposal personally planned, deployed, and promoted by President Xi Jinping. This year marks the beginning of the second “golden decade” of the BRI. Standing at this new starting point, the BRI will be more innovative, dynamic, open, and inclusive, bringing new opportunities to China and the world. Overseas Chinese play an irreplaceable role in the construction of the BRI. She hopes everyone will strengthen their confidence, enhance their self-assurance, and achieve win-win cooperation in creating a bright future for China’s economy. She encouraged seizing opportunities, leveraging advantages, and showcasing the overseas Chinese community’s contribution to Jiangsu’s high-quality development, as well as working together to build a beautiful future for the BRI.

Hu Guangjie stated that 2024 marks the tenth year since President Xi Jinping gave Jiangsu Province a clear positioning as the “Belt and Road” intersection point. In recent years, Jiangsu has firmly shouldered the significant political responsibility of building the Belt and Road intersection. The international comprehensive transportation system has been gradually established, international capacity cooperation has deepened, Silk Road trade links have become closer, the construction of cooperation parks has been solidly promoted, and the brand of cultural exchanges has been enhanced, leading to remarkable achievements in the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.

As an important pioneer, participant, and contributor to the Belt and Road construction, Hu expressed his hope that overseas Chinese businesspeople will seize the historical initiative, act as bridges and bonds, leverage their unique advantages, and demonstrate a new sense of responsibility in advancing interconnectedness, green development, and cultural exchanges in the Belt and Road Initiative.

Wang Jinjian, in his address, stated that Yangzhou is a place with a rich history, deep culture, beautiful ecology, and thriving industries. The city is currently focused on becoming a renowned city for industrial and technological innovation. As a Belt and Road intersection city, Yangzhou has continuously expanded its infrastructure, cultural exchanges, and trade relations in recent years. He sincerely hopes that this event will serve as an opportunity for overseas Chinese businesspeople to visit Yangzhou, promote the city, and open new spaces for cooperation between both sides.

Sun Jianwei, President of the Malaysian Jiangsu Entrepreneurs Business Association, along with other Chamber representatives, was invited to attend this conference. This event not only reflects the close ties between the Jiangsu Provincial Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and overseas Chinese business organizations, but also highlights the significant role of the Belt and Road Initiative in promoting international economic and trade cooperation and enhancing exchanges between business association from various countries.
