On December 5, 2024, the “Role of Chinese Enterprises in Malaysia’s Economic Development” Analysis Report Release and Digital Economy & Green Development Forum was held at the Xiamen University Campus in Sepang, Malaysia. This grand event brought together leaders from various business organizations and representatives from Chinese enterprises in Malaysia. It featured digital and green product and park showcases, conveying the shared goal of enhancing digital and green cooperation between China and Malaysia through language, visuals, and tangible products.

In his opening speech, Malaysian Minister of Human Resources, Steven Sim Chee Keong, emphasized that the development of China-Malaysia relations depends not only on the efforts of the governments of both countries but also on the important roles and bridges played by entrepreneurs and partners. He expressed his hope that, after 50 years of diplomatic ties, China and Malaysia can continue to cooperate and elevate their bilateral relationship to new heights.

In his speech, Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia, Ouyang Yujing, proposed three key directions for the future of China-Malaysia economic cooperation. These included digital and green development as the future path, the joint strengthening of policy guidance by both governments, and the support and encouragement for enterprises to enhance practical cooperation. He highlighted that digital economy and green development are two major trends for high-quality economic growth. In the context of the new era, cultivating new green economic growth points through digital economy, while enhancing information, economic, and trade cooperation, can greatly promote industrial transformation and improve the ecological environment quality, thus advancing the high-quality development of the “Belt and Road” initiative.
