On September 25, 2023, the “China Jiangsu-Malaysia Investment Promotion and Exchange Conference” was successfully held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. Distinguished guests in attendance included YB Dato’ Sri Wee Jeck Seng, Malaysian Member of Parliament; Wang Cun, Second-Level Inspector of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Commerce; Sun Jianwei, Executive President of Malaysia Jiangsu Entrepreneurs Business Association; Lim Meng Yee, Senior Deputy Director of the Foreign Investment Division at the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA); as well as representatives from the Chinese Jiangsu and Malaysian local governments and entrepreneurs.
Sun Jianwei, Executive President of Malaysian Jiangsu Entrepreneurs Business Association, delivered a speech welcoming the delegation warmly. He emphasized that the purpose of the Malaysian Jiangsu Entrepreneurs Business Association is to unite the hometown community, create platforms to serve businesses, and share development opportunities. He highlighted that Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar’s two visits to China have further strengthened Malaysia-China relations. He expressed hope that more high-quality domestic enterprises will seek development opportunities in Malaysia, using the country as a regional hub to reach the ASEAN region or global markets.
Wang Cun, the Second-Level Inspector of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Commerce, introduced Jiangsu’s economic and trade development. He stated that Malaysia is an important partner for Jiangsu along the “Belt and Road” initiative. He emphasized that this visit, which includes government officials and business representatives from various regions of Jiangsu, aims to explore greater cooperation opportunities. He also mentioned that Jiangsu welcomes more high-quality Malaysian business representatives to visit Jiangsu and explore mutual development opportunities.

Following this, Lim Meng Yee, Senior Vice Director of the Foreign Investment Division at the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), provided a detailed introduction to the work and services of MIDA. She highlighted that MIDA has established three key service points in China—Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou—to offer better services to both domestic and international entrepreneurs. This setup aims to assist more businesses in establishing themselves effectively in Malaysia.
Lastly, representatives from the Malaysian Jiangsu Entrepreneurs Business Association and the Jiangsu delegation’s business representatives engaged in discussions and shared insights.
