On March 25, 2024 (Monday), Malaysia Jiangsu Entrepreneurs Business Association was invited to attend the Merdeka University Malaysia-China Vocational Education Expo 2024, hosted by Merdeka University. The event was held at the auditorium of the Kuala Lumpur Chung Hwa Independent High School. The expo featured over 40 participating institutions from Malaysia and China, providing attendees with the opportunity to gain face-to-face insights into vocational education and career advancement.
The event was inaugurated by Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, YB Chang Lih Kang, and Counsellor Zheng Xuefang from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia. In his speech, Counsellor Zheng emphasized that the Chinese government places high importance on vocational development education, highlighting that China has built the world’s largest vocational education system. As of 2023, over 6,000 vocational schools across China offer programs related to the digital economy, with more than 25,000 specialized posts, showing further expansion compared to 2022. Vocational education is closely linked to economic and social development.
Minister YB Chang Lih Kang also mentioned in his opening remarks that the “National Energy Transition Roadmap” (NETR) launched by the government in 2023 would not only bring RM25 billion in investments but also create approximately 23,000 high-impact jobs. This will help Malaysia achieve its zero-carbon emission goal by 2050, necessitating the training of more skilled workers to meet business needs and support Malaysia’s Industrial 4.0 transformation.
During the event, several cooperation agreements were signed, including a “Internship and Employment Cooperation Framework Agreement” between Merdeka University and Malaysia Jiangsu Entrepreneurs Business Association. The signing ceremony was conducted by Secretary-General Ye Langheng and Merdeka University Secretary-General Chen Zhengjin, and witnessed by President Sun Jianwei, Merdeka University Chairman Chen Youxin, Counsellor Zheng Xuefang, and Minister YB Chang Lih Kang.
Additionally, the expo presented a certificate of appreciation to Malaysia Jiangsu Entrepreneurs Business Association for a donation of RM10,000. Minister YB Chang Lih Kang presented the certificate, and President Sun Jianwei received it on behalf of the Association. The donation was made through individual contributions of RM2,000 each from five Association committees: President Sun Jianwei, General Deputy Presidents Lü Yongxiang and Chen Quanqing, Vice President Wang Xingyao, and Treasurer Eugene Choo.
