China Jiangsu Culture Trade Expo 2023 held in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, November 18 (China News Service) — The “China Jiangsu Culture Trade Expo 2023” held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on November 17, with over 100 institutions from Jiangsu participating.

Chinese and Malaysian guests jointly inaugurated the expo. With the theme “Hoist the Sail of Cultural Export, Build the Bridge of Trade Cooperation,” the exhibition features five sections: a special cultural products exhibition area, a digital cultural trade exhibition area, a traditional Chinese medicine services exhibition area, a culinary culture and tourism exhibition area, and an international education exhibition area. The event showcases Jiangsu’s profound cultural heritage and technological innovation capabilities.

The Huaiyang cuisine exhibited at the expo garnered significant attention from the local populace. At the exhibition, the reporter observed a variety of Jiangsu products, including silk, Huaiyang cuisine, Su embroidery, sachets, jewelry, and purple clay teapots, all vying for attention and attracting many local guests and merchants.

At the opening ceremony, Jiang Xin, Deputy Director General of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Commerce, noted that Malaysia has become Jiangsu Province’s second-largest trading partner in ASEAN. The two regions share a deep historical connection and maintain close exchanges in various fields. He expressed his hope to promote Jiangsu’s characteristic cultural products such as Yun brocade, purple clay teapots, and silk, as well as digital cultural content like software outsourcing, gaming, animation, and intellectual property. He also aimed to expand the overseas market for cultural services including traditional Chinese medicine, cuisine, tourism, and international education. Concurrently, the expo will host a series of complementary activities such as city promotions, cultural performances, and supply-demand negotiations, telling China’s story and showcasing Jiangsu’s charm. See Chee Kong, Senior Director of the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry Malaysia, highlighted that the expo aligns with Malaysia’s economic vision under the new industrial master plan and perfectly matches Malaysia’s goals of creating platforms for international cooperation, innovation, and investment. He encouraged substantive dialogue and exchange between businesses from both countries to explore cooperation opportunities. The opening ceremony was also attended by Sun Shuqiang, Minister Counsellor for Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia, Tan Sri Dato’ Low Kian Chuan, President of the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) and Dato’ Keith Li, President of the China Entrepreneurs Association in Malaysia (PUCM) joined Jiang Xin and See Chee Kong in cutting the ribbon to inaugurate the expo.
