Jiangsu Provincial Youth Entrepreneurs Delegation Visits Malaysia to Promote China-Malaysia Economic and Trade Cooperation

From October 27 to October 31, 2023, Gu Wanfeng, Executive Vice President of the Jiangsu Federation of Overseas Chinese, led a delegation from the Jiangsu Provincial Youth Entrepreneurs Association on a visit to Malaysia. The visit aimed to strengthen economic and trade cooperation between China and Malaysia and elevate their partnership to a new level. On October 30, during a welcome dinner co-hosted by Malaysia Jiangsu Entrepreneurs Business Association and Tanco Holdings, Gu Wanfeng delivered a speech highlighting that in 2022, the total trade volume between Jiangsu and Malaysia reached $20 billion, accounting for nearly 10% of the bilateral trade between China and Malaysia. He noted that many Jiangsu-based companies have established operations in Malaysia, marking a new era of cooperation between the two regions.

The Chief Minister of Negeri Sembilan, Dato’ Seri Aminuddin, warmly welcomed the Jiangsu delegation. He revealed that in 2022, Negeri Sembilan successfully attracted 166 investment projects approved by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), totaling 8.9 billion Malaysian Ringgit. He expressed hope that by maintaining strong cooperative relations, more high-quality Chinese enterprises would be attracted to invest in Negeri Sembilan. The Negeri Sembilan state government is committed to providing comprehensive support and assistance to Chinese enterprises investing in the region.

Sun Jianwei, Executive President of Malaysia Jiangsu Entrepreneurs Business Association, emphasized that as a steadfast supporter of China-Malaysia friendship, the association plays an active role in promoting economic and trade cooperation and interpersonal exchanges between Malaysia and Jiangsu. He noted that by July this year, over 100 Jiangsu enterprises had already invested in Malaysia. These investments span traditional sectors such as construction and manufacturing, as well as upgrades in digital economy, high-end equipment, and new energy industries. Additionally, the association has hosted six trade promotion events this year between Jiangsu and Malaysia, receiving more than 200 Jiangsu entrepreneurs.

Jiang Nan, Executive Vice President of the Jiangsu Provincial Youth Entrepreneurs Association, pointed out that the choice of Malaysia as this year’s visit destination aims to deepen China-Malaysia exchanges, promote chamber cooperation, and advance mutual development.

Dato’ Seri Tan Jun Suan, Chairman of Tanco Holdings, summarized by stating that Malaysia is a friendly country where Malaysians and Chinese share the same language, script, surnames, and cultural traditions. He hoped that by leveraging Malaysia’s resource advantages and China’s advanced technology, comprehensive complementary cooperation between private enterprises would be developed to jointly promote the China-Malaysia friendship.

The Jiangsu delegation’s visit to Malaysia has injected new vitality into the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. This visit not only strengthened cooperation but also laid a solid foundation for future collaborative relations, fostering the development of China-Malaysia friendship. The parties look forward to achieving more win-win results through their joint efforts, realizing mutually beneficial cooperation, and creating a bright future together.
